Our Story
Retooling the World is a living, evolving movement devoted to awakening human potential and restoring people to the purpose they were born to fulfill. Founded by Jeff Dunphy, the project brings together ancient wisdom teachings, modern psychological insight, and practical tools for clarity, resilience, and soul-aligned living.
At its heart, Retooling the World exists to help people remember their brilliance—and to give them the teachings, community, and inner architecture needed to express that brilliance in their lives, families, relationships, and work. It is a place where people learn to navigate the world with wisdom rather than fear, clarity rather than confusion, purpose rather than performance.

Jeff Dunphy

For more than four decades, Jeff Dunphy has been devoted to awakening the brilliance within people. Whether addressing hundreds in a university lecture hall or guiding small groups through transformative conversations, Jeff has spent his life helping others remember who they are, why they matter, and what they’re capable of.
A former investment banker who managed $75 billion and a lifelong student of the world’s sacred wisdom, Jeff brings a rare blend of grounded intelligence and spiritual depth. He is known for recognizing the genius in everyone he meets—students, executives, strangers in grocery stores—and for lifting people up in ways that are both practical and profoundly affirming. Many of his former students, both from the University of Calgary and his Retooling community, remain connected to him decades later.
Jeff’s work lives where ancient wisdom meets modern navigation. His lifelong exploration of sacred sites, along with a transformative seven-year period of spiritual training, deepened his understanding of purpose, clarity, and the deeper architecture of human potential. These experiences—and the mentorship of Dr. Douglas M. Baker—shaped Jeff into a trusted voice for those seeking to live with intention, courage, and alignment.
